In the wake of Christmas, there are warnings a so-called "white out" could sweep the country from Wednesday, January 8.

A fresh set of yellow weather warnings have been issued across the UK with snow expected to fall in southern England. The Met Office has issued warnings for snow and ice in Wales and through the south west of England from 5pm today,

A three-day snow warning has been issued by the Met Office for much of Britain, with temperatures set to plunge for the first weekend of 2025. Around 5cm of snow is expected to fall widely across swathes of the Midlands, Wales and northern England, with as much as 20-30cm over high ground in Wales or the Pennines.

Yellow warnings for snow and ice remain in place after severe flooding and snow caused travel disruption and school closures across the UK. The Met Office said wintry weather is expected to bring icy roads and travel delays to much of west England, Wales, north and west Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
