J.J. Watt will make the jump from studio talking head to in-game analyst this upcoming season, joining Ian Eagle in the broadcast booth to form CBS’s No. 2 broadcast team. Eagle’s previous partner, Charles Davis, is sliding into a new role as the network’s lead college football analyst beginning in 2026.

JJ Watt may not be coming out of retirement to take an NFL field this season. The former All-Pro will make a big move in the media, however, as CBS Sports announced Wednesday the future Pro Football Hall of Famer will become an NFL game analyst starting in 2025,

Watt had been in CBS’ NFL Today studio, but got the game bug after calling the Christmas Day game with Eagle for Netflix.
