There are mixed feelings about a long-awaited agreement between Minneapolis and the federal government to bring reform to the city's police department.

The federal consent decree formalizes many policies that the police department put in place when the world’s attention was on Minneapolis after George Floyd’s murder in 2020 that are also in the settlement with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.

Minneapolis is poised to become the U.S. Justice Department’s 16th under federal consent decree for police reform.
