Nepal is raising the permit fees to climb Mount Everest from $11,000 to $15,000. Income from the fees is a key source of revenue and employment for the cash-strapped country.
Mount Everest climbing permit cost increases 36% to $15,000
For those who want to climb Mount Everest the fee will be $15,000 during the peak season, up 36% from its $11,000 fee, the BBC reported. If you climb outside of the peak season, it will still be a 36% increase. From September until November, it will cost $7,500 while the December to February period will be $3,750.

Nepal has decided to increase the permit fees for climbing Mount Everest, the world's tallest peak. The last revision in the free was undertaken in 2015, when Nepal ditched the a group-based system to adopt a uniform fee.
