A record-breaking snowstorm in the southern U.S. dumped as much as 8 inches of snow on New Orleans and nearly a foot of snow in Alabama

Pups and their humans had a snowball fight Tuesday on Bourbon Street. And yes, that's someone in a skeleton onesie. Image: EarthCam Snow has been steadily falling in south Louisiana, coating New Orleans metro and bringing the region to a standstill.

Many roadways were impassable, classes were canceled in local schools and many businesses could not open as a winter storm essentially brought New Orleans to a standstill.
