Oct 6, 2004 · I haven't sold my 19" X 54" WP davis lathe so I was thinking about loading it up on the trailer and going to Gas Engine shows and belting up to a friends engine and just make some fun stuff as a live machining demonstration. I'm feeling some responsobility to keep alive the almost lost arts of machining and metal working in this country.

But its stays with me because of the clutch, brake, 1 3/8" thru hole, hardened bed and the non-threaded spindle. All 5 items are hard to find together in a garage sized lathe. Jan 28, 2022 · A lathe, mill and some tooling support like an indexing head can make lots of parts and gives a decent cross section of practices. Even if the part is just a trinket that lives it’s life on their desk. A cup to hold pens. A fidget-spinner type of thing. I would make an early lathe problem to make a screw and nut by single-point threading.
