Apr 23, 2024 · Got this lens "by chance" for very little money in good condition. Did some testing and made some shots in the woods. Sharpness is quite good, even wide open. Even though it get's a little better when stopped down a tag. Manual focusing could be prone to small errors so stopping down makes it a little easier.

Aug 6, 2008 · I would suggest leaving the image in color on your camera and changing to black and white in post processing. When I set the camera to black and white while taking IR pictures I get something that looks like a simple greyscale version of my subject. I don't get the Woods effect at all. I get a black and white image, but it isn't really an IR image.

Nothing gives me as much joy - well nearly nothing else - as getting a great shot of a hidden gem in the woods as an example. What I think has happened - more than technical wizardry of dedicated cameras - is that smartphones have changed HOW we view images and WHO has "high quality" images to share.

Feb 23, 2019 · IIRC Pentax does not sell parts to consumers in the US. It is probably part of their contract with Precision. I’d bet this is the way Precision works: You send your lens in for repair with a note that you lost your tripod foot and you need a replacement. They will respond with a price for the part and ETA.

I 'd like now as I have some issues with displaying RAW files on my PC and though that the original Pentax SW will work better than any other. First question was how to install it since I've probably long lost the CD-ROM but I saw that it's possible to download from the RICOH-PENTAX website and use workaround to install it without physical disk.

Dec 22, 2018 · The lens can produce a lot of green and purple fringing when light and dark collide. The lens still gets a 7 from me because those two low dispersion elements do their job pretty well. With post processing in lightroom I can get rid of the vast majority of the abberations, and not too many images are lost. Now to the elephant in the room.
