Nov 27, 2020 · Amber Alerts ARE reserved for situations where there's reason to believe the child may be in actual danger. There have been plenty of instances of Amber Alerts not being issued because authorities didn't have reason to believe the child was in danger, which turned out not to be the case. Better to have a few too many than not enough.

"As of May 1, 2022, 1,114 children were successfully recovered through the AMBER Alert system and 123 children were rescued because of wireless emergency alerts. There are 82 AMBER Alert plans throughout the United States." That said, I do feel like I get a lot of these and wonder how successful they are.

Nov 17, 2020 · The messages can be disabled on your phones, but they cannot be disabled on the X1 devices - the Illinois State Police activates the EAS system to broadcast the Amber Alert messages, and it's illegal (as far as I know) to block or otherwise defeat an EAS message from being displayed.
