I had a the hanging type hitch bike rack (Softride Dura 4) and the bikes would sometimes drag on the ground going over big dips or bumps in rough terrain.

Sep 1, 2012 · Depending on your budget, the aftermarket hitches are a much better price (like etrailer.com) for the purpose - more $$ for the best bike rack. I got a hitch for less than $200, and only plan to use for bike rack. I have a Yakima Holdup and it looks great on the MDX. Easy to load/unload bikes, easy tilt to open hatch, etc.

Nov 22, 2024 · With my bike rack on the trailer hitch my 2022 MDX brakes very hard when in reverse (rear sensors detect bike rack). Turning off the parking sensor system does not fix the problem. No information in the manual. I need a procedure to turn off the rear sensors when my bike rack is installed in the hitch. Anyone?, thanks.

When I am backing up, if I speed up too fast in reverse, the system will auto brake since it is sensing an object behind me, which is in fact the bike rack. I tried turning off the parking sensors with the switch located on the left side near the turn signals on the lower dashboard.

Aug 3, 2021 · With the bike rack installed on the back, the car slams on the brakes the moment I start backing. I understand that it's the automatic braking system thinking there's an obstacle behind me. So far, turning off the rear parking sensor does not cancel this. I've looked everywhere in the manual to figure out how to bypass this function.
