The Children's Global Assessment Scale (CGAS) is a numeric scale used by mental health clinicians to rate the general functioning of youths under the age of 18. [1] Scores range from 1 to 90 or 1 to 100, with high scores indicating better functioning.

The CGAS program sends students with high potential for one year of preparatory school to develop academically, physically and militarily.

Directions: Rate the subject's most impaired level of general functioning for the specified time period by selecting the lowest level which describes his/her functioning on a hypothetical continuum of health-illness. Use intermediary levels (e.g., 35, 58, 62). Rate actual functioning regardless of treatment or prognosis.

The CGAS is a clinician reported outcome measure. There is one item on the CGAS on a scale from 1 to 100. The clinician needs to gather information from prior assessments, and interviews with the child, parents and carers and school.
