Midgar is a heavily industrialized city and you can tell a lot of it is not well-cared for. Even the nicer areas are still polluted. There's little to no natural environment that hasn't been absolutely destroyed by the pollution and Mako draining.

Each sector has two parts to it as well, the upper plate, the richer society lives up there, and the slums, which is below the plate and is where the poorer residents of Midgar live.

In that world, the SG is similar to Al-Qaeda, and Shadow is akin to Osama bin Laden. Previously, SG and Shadow took the Midgar Academy hostage, bombed the most sacred place (similar to the Vatican City of our world), made the Bushin Festival (a major event) essentially a mockery, and even participated in the regicide of King Oriana.

Sep 25, 2023 · As far as this, if Kalm is the city immediately in front of Midgar in this picture, two things instantly come to mind for me: One, Kalm is large due to forced perspective of it being closer. Two: Midgar is most likely substantially lower in elevation and resides in a fairly deep depression figure, which is true based on the original map.

That is a very flawed argument. Midgar is very dense in story in the original, but most of the game time (over 80%) is spent outside Midgar, even when focusing purely on the main story. And of course it will be the same in the remakes. There will be huge open fields in the remaining parts even if they won't be fully open world games.

Companies in real life so something similar where they will build and sell houses to employees to build company loyalty. Poorer citizens like those in the slums rely on public transportation as seen with avalanche moving back and forth to the top of the plates.
