Mar 23, 2021 · During a recent GDC Showcase, Obsidian Entertainment’s game director Carrie Patel answered a number of questions regarding her work on Pillars of Eternity and The Outer Worlds, and the key differences between writing for an isometric and a first-person RPG. Carrie Patel was the lead narrative designer on the Peril on Gorgon DLC which reined in some of the goofier comedic elements of Outer Worlds to tell a dark gothic mystery story that doesn't flinch away the more fucked up implications of the game's setting. this is really nice to hear.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Carrie Patel explained that the stories are "as separate as the continents they take place on", and that the changes set into motion by the god Eothas at the end of Deadfire "slowly change the world over generations, not overnight."
