A pH meter is a scientific instrument that measures the acidity or alkalinity of water-based solutions. It does so by measuring the difference in electrical potential between a pH electrode and a reference electrode. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. Litmus paper can also be used as an indicator to determine whether a substance is an acid or a base.
